Overview

Lion Mount is a prominent mountain in the Bambous Range that can be seen from Mahebourg and is known for its quantity of native vegetation and spectacular views of the southeast. There are two routes that go to the top – north and south – so there are a few different ways to skin this cat. The best way to connect the two is to make a loop back to Virieux Grand Port. The trip begins through sugarcane and gradually ascends into the shady forests that border the Lion on a great quality track. The route is unlabeled and has a few forks, so careful attention is required to follow it. There are a few areas where you will need to use your hands to climb rough portions, but it is not a very tough journey.
